Website Updates - March 2012:

We have been doing some spring cleaning around the website in the last few days:

- All four aviation tours (May, July, September and October) are now online, with information sheets and detailed itineraries. Due to people moving to later tours, we still have a few last minute places available for the May tour - get in touch if interested!

- We have arranged a new Deluxe Tour of the DPRK in September. Running over 10 days, it will feature the DPRK's most luxurious hotels and best restaurants. Accommodation in Pyongyang will be at the boutique Moranbong Hotel, at Mount Myohyang it will be at the Hyangsan Hotel, refurbished recently to a very high standard, and at Hamhung it will be at the very rarely visited Majon Hotel, quite possibly the highest standard of accommodation available in the DPRK! Numbers will be strictly limited to 10 on this tour to ensure a more personal experience and level of service.

- We are running a tour for the Pyongyang Autumn Golf Tournament, in partnership with the National Golf Associaton of the DPRK. This tournament will allow participants to play in an organised competition at one of the world's least visited golf courses. We will also be fitting in some sightseeing as well!

- For private tour customers wishing to visit Mount Paektu, we are offering a new opportunity. Normally, is is not possible for private tour customers to visit Mount Paektu unless they can arrange a large enough group to pay the substantial cost of an Air Koryo charter flight. However, we can now offer all private tour customers (even single travellers) the chance to visit this historic and beautiful spot by taking one of our 5 chartered flights that we have arranged for 2012. The dates are as follows:

Monday 14th May 2012: Pyongyang - Mount Paektu
Tuesday 15th May 2012: Mount Paektu - Pyongyang

Monday 16th July 2012: Pyongyang - Mount Paektu
Tuesday 17th July 2012: Mount Paektu - Pyongyang

Tuesday 21th Aug 2012: Pyongyang - Mount Paekdu
Wed 22nd Aug 2012: Mount Paekdu - Mount Chilbo
Thurs 23rd Aug 2012: Mount Chilbo - Hamhung (back to Pyongyang by road)

Monday 10th September 2012: Pyongyang - Mount Paektu
Tuesday 11th September 2012: Mount Paektu - Pyongyang

Monday 22nd October 2012: Pyongyang - Mount Chilbo
Tuesday 23rd October 2012: Mount Chilbo - Pyongyang

The price for this return air ticket will be EUR 200 / person (Pyongyang - Paektu - Pyongyang) and EUR 350 / person (Pyongyang - Mount Paektu - Chilbo - Hamhung). If you would like to combine a visit to the majestic Mount Paektu with your private tour of the DPRK, get in touch and we can arrange everything for you!

AVIATION ENTHUSIASTS TOUR OF THE DPRK, MAY 2012

Juche Travel Services is delighted to announce an exciting special interest tour in May 2012, in partnership with the DPRK's national airline, Air Koryo.

This 7 night Aviation Enthusiasts tour will allow participants to experience one of the world's rarest airlines in action not just once, not twice, but for 6 flights, taking in some of the country's most treasured tourist sights, and enabling visitors to sample four different Air Koryo aircraft types.

For the internal chartered flights, there will be ample opportunities for filming and photography of the aircraft, as well as meeting with the flight crew themselves. We are also arranging a special in depth visit to the Korean War Museum in Pyongyang hosted by a KPA Air Force Officer, who will be guiding the group personally around the preserved historical military aircraft from both sides of the conflict.

Dates: May 12th – May 19th, 2012

Places to be visited: Pyongyang, Mount Paektu, Hamhung, Mount Kumgang, and Kaesong / DMZ.

Flights and corresponding aircraft:

Beijing – Pyongyang: Ilyushin Il-62
Pyongyang – Mount Paektu (return): Antonov An-24
Pyongyang – Hamhung (return): Ilyushin IL-18
Pyongyang – Beijing: Tupolev Tu-204

(For those who would prefer to return from Pyongyang to Shenyang, this can be arranged at no extra cost and the aircraft would be the Tupolev Tu-154)

COST: EUR 1,675 per person

Due to the high fixed costs of the charter flights, this tour possibility is based on a minimum number of people. If you are interested to join the tour, please let us know as soon as possible to add your name to the tour list. Once the minimum number of people has been reached, we shall re-confirm the tour to all interested parties and commence the full application process.

A detailed itinerary of the tour can be found here:

This really is a unique opportunity for aviation enthusiasts and intrepid travelers alike, combining Air Koryo, one of the least travelled national airlines in the world, with historic and rare aircraft, and all wrapped up with the inimitable tourism experience of the DPRK!

The Aviation Enthusiasts special interest tour is in addition to our full range of group tours for 2012, coinciding with the special events and national holidays of the DPRK. Prices for these fully inclusive tours start from a very reasonable EUR 805 per person for a 4 night tour, and EUR 1075 per person for a 7 night tour.
