Getting There
It is possible to reach the DPRK from a variety of places in China and Russia. However, Beijing is generally the preferred option for tourists due to the larger number of departures, as well as being an international transport hub for those arriving from overseas. Whatever your preferred methods of travel, JTS tour prices are offered on an ‘inclusive’ basis and consequently we will reserve and confirm all travel bookings required for your tour.
By Plane
Two airlines operate scheduled services to the DPRK; Air Koryo (the national airline) and Air China. We would recommend flying with Air Koryo. They operate modern Tupolev and Antonov aircraft built from 2007 onwards, and the airline provides a great introduction to the country from the moment you step on board the plane. We find them more reliable than the Air China services, which are prone to cancellation. Between the two airlines, there is at least one daily service between Beijing and Pyongyang, with the exception of Sunday. Air Koryo also fly regularly to Shenyang and also operate a weekly service to Vladivostok.
