Saturday 20 July 2019 – Monday 12 August 2019
24 days / 23 nights
Each morning you have three hours class time to get to grips with the language. For total beginners this will firstly involve mastering the Korean alphabet, which you will be confident with after the first week. For intermediate and advanced learners, you will take a test on the first day to determine your level.
After class you will enjoy a tasty lunch before beginning your tourism itinerary in Pyongyang! Highlights include the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, which includes the captured US spy ship, USS Pueblo, the Pyongyang Metro, one of the deepest in the world, the Taedonggang Diplomatic Club and Bar and much more! You will also get to see Kim Il Sung Square, where many of the famous parades take place, as well as the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the final resting place of the eternal president Kim Il Sung and his son, Chairman Kim Jong Il. On 7-27, the anniversary of the North’s victory in the Korean War, you will witness mass celebrations in the streets and a chance to dance with the locals.
At weekends you will enjoy three trips, to the north, east, and south of the country! In the Myohyang Moutains you can see the International Friendship House, an underground structure which houses gifts bequeathed to the leaders from foreign dignitaries all over the world. In the south you will visit the DMZ – the line which divides the Korean nation. In the east you can see the port city of Wonsan, swim with locals on the beach, and see the beautiful natural vistas and waterfalls! You will also have an opportunity to visit the industrial city of Hamhung and stay in the 5* Majon Resort.
Each week you have also been invited to join an exclusive lecture series at Kim Il Sung University, covering topics such as Korean culture, food, language, and revolutionary history. After class there will also be the opportunity to partake in extra-curricular activities including 1:1 learning and exchange with local students, Korean Dancing and traditional Korean Taekwondo!

There are two choices with regards to your visa collection:
A: The easiest and recommended option is to collect the visa from our Beijing representative at the pre tour meeting in Beijing- please note we do not require your passport at any time, the visa is issued on separate paper and your passport is not marked in any way – the cost for this service is €50;
B: Alternatively you can arrange to collect your in-passport visa from the local DPRK Embassy in your home country (please contact us for more details on pricing and a list of DPRK diplomatic missions).
Prior to departure we will gather for a pre-tour meeting in Beijing. At the meeting you will be given your DPRK visas and a chance to ask any last minute questions you may have. Afterwards, a complimentary welcome meal is served, allowing you to get to know your fellow group members.
Comments from the 2017 Students
“It was an amazing (and very unique) way of getting started with the Korean language. This experience wasn’t just about learning a new language but also to experience, for a couple of weeks, the North Korean university system, as we were learning with Korean teachers. I am now studying Korean in the UK with some books I bought in North Korea. I can’t wait to go back to North Korea to practice my Korean skills!! 나는 류학생입니다!”

“While on the tour we had class from 9.00 until 12.00 everyday and then went travelling around Pyongyang after study. The cultural exchanges were magnificent and the peoples knowledge of the world amazed me. I would totally recommend Juche Travel Services’ Korean Summer Language Tour and hope that everyone has this opportunity to have life changing experiences”
Jack from Australia
“The Korean language lessons were extremely useful and of the highest quality. Our professor was kind and professional who delivered outstanding lessons and wasn’t afraid to challenge us. It was a real university course with real expectations put forth by the faculty. My overall impression with the DPRK and Juche Travel Services are outstanding. The DPRK is a fascinating (and safe) place to visit and Juche Travel Services offered the best value to an all-inclusive holiday I have ever seen.”
